At your first appointment we perform a detailed examination of your teeth and mouth so we can learn as much as possible about your oral health.
From all of this information, we are able to provide you with your dental care options so that you can have the most radiant and healthy smile possible. We will explain any procedure fully and if possible give you a range of options.
Preventive Dentistry
We believe prevention is better than the cure. We work to detect conditions and prevent you from developing various oral health issues.
We recommend our patients visit us for a check-up and clean every 6 months. This will ensure optimal oral health as well as prevention and early identification of any oral issues.
Children’s Dentistry
Black Rock Dental is a child friendly practice.
Jonathan is a proud parent himself and understands the different needs and expectations that can arise when it comes to children’s dental hygiene. We consider a child’s first dental experience to be vitally important and strive to leave a memorable and positive impression that will help them approach dental care with enthusiasm for the future.
Root Canal Therapy
A damaged tooth that has inflammation of the pulp (nerve) can be painful for the patient and can only improve with professional treatment.
The treatment involves removing the inflamed tissue, cleaning the root canals and fillings so the tooth can be retained. This process, combined with a good crown or filling, ensures that bacteria are prevented from multiplying in the canal spaces.
Prognosis is usually very good and success rates of 95 per cent are common.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
The removal of wisdom teeth involves a minor surgical operation.
At Black Rock Dental we offer a full range of wisdom tooth extraction services. Where possible your teeth will be removed in the chair by our visiting Dental Surgeon, while more complicated cases can be treated in hospital under General Anaesthesia.
Mouthguards
Mouthguards can be used to prevent dental injuries during sports and recreational activities. Impressions of your teeth are taken to custom make a perfectly fitted mouthguard. Call us today to arrange an appointment to be on your way to safeguarding your teeth and jaw!
Bruxism
Bruxism is also known as grinding and/or clenching of the teeth.
Most people are not aware of this condition as it generally occurs whilst sleeping. The pressure resulting from bruxing can cause cracking, breaking and abrading of the teeth. It can also cause generalised aching. An occlusal splint can be made to relieve pain and to prevent tooth damage due to grinding.
Cosmetic Dentistry
Dental Implants
Dental implants are an excellent way to replace single or multiple missing teeth and can be used to secure dentures in place. This will make you feel like you have your own teeth back again.
Crowns and Veneers
A porcelain crown is permanently bonded to a particular tooth to improve aesthetics and function. A crown can be fitted over the remaining part of almost any prepared tooth and, if properly maintained, can last 15 years or more.
Veneers are a thin shell of porcelain permanently bonded to the surface of a tooth to improve it’s position, shade and shape – and in turn the overall aesthetics of your smile.
Teeth Whitening
If you’re after a brighter, whiter smile, contact us for an in-chair teeth whitening service or make an appointment to have your impressions taken for your custom made bleaching trays. Together with the whitening gel, these make up your at-home whitening kit.
Any surgical or invasive procedure caries risks. Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified practitioner.
